John Foster’s Almshouses

So many of you were interested in yesterdays picture for ‘stone’ that I felt I had to show you a little more of the building.

Aren’t they pretty? And thanks to Nikki for adding this link to Facebook,

  1. I don’t know anything about architecture but I know what I like. I love the architecture in these photos. I wonder how these were built THEN without the various machines of today. I enjoyed viewing these. Thank you, Gilly, for sharing.

  2. I love how the bricks are easily noticeable and are part of the architectural design. Compared to plain smooth exterior, bricks are more cool to look at.

  3. It is rather an eclectic mix of styles isn’t it? But they all work together somehow! Hope the storm hasn’t affected your end of the woods too much. Stay safe Gilly.

  4. What a wonderful building! I often wonder how 19th century people found the energy to accomplish so much. Just think what went into designing and building something this elaborate!

I would love to hear from you . . .
