Paula’s black and white Sunday challenge is an opportunity to play with photos and find out what works in black and white, and what doesn’t. Paula’s image of a leaf has bold shapes and strong contrasts so it’s a perfect example, mine has good shapes but perhaps less contrasts, what do you think?
And here’s before,
I liked this shop because of the simple, striking display and also my initial was on the door handle!
Simple display, bold shapes, strong colours – it works, Gilly!
The black and white works with the shapes of the arches and glass objects and with the curve from left to right. The color version makes me concentrate on the glass objects, but the black and white emphasizes the architecture. I like both versions.
I was going to comment on the G for Gilly – I bet you wish it was your shop. I’m going for the colour here because that gorgeous glassware just has to be seen in colour. It just screams “Look at me!”
So it has! 🙂 🙂 Funnily enough I find the colour shouts a little too loud and I like the softer black and white version.
I always enjoy the contrast between the color and black and white photos – I can’t decide which one I like better here! The light coming through each nook is intriguing both ways.
This is a superb pairing. As you say, both modes highlight different aspects. And it’s a great photo any which way.
Yup the b&w works alright, but the colour pops 😃
Oh yes, “G” makes all the difference 🙂 It looks very appealing in colour.
