This beastie, Fanny, lives and thrives in my front garden. I’ve never decided if I like her or not, but people often pause to look at her.
In recent months, she’s had her skirt shortened, because it was impossible to walk past her without being attacked by her thorns.
She’s already sprouting a new silver fan,
that will grow up like this one day
and she’s wearing some new jewels at her feet
which could be interesting if she’s part tryffid. She may have plans to dominate the local gardens, should I be worried?

I had one just like it. I eventually cut it down, weary of its uncouth shape and refusal to do much more than keep on growing. The space is better occupied now.
I can see why you’d chop it, but this one can stay for now 🙂

Does she make a mess? My neighbour has a Cornish Palm and in the autumn most of the dead leaves end up in my garden, drives me crazy having to pick them all up!
Not much Jude she doesn’t seem to drop many laves at all. She’s striking but isn’t in quite the right place.

Reminds me of what is called a Sago Palm in California where I grew up. My dad has them in his front yard and they can be very difficult if not pruned correctly and on a regular basis. They really seem to be like a weed of the palm variety. Some people adore them and others hate them. Not sure what your take is. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Renee, similar but this one has real fan shape leaves. I quite like it but it’s not in the best place!
I believe it is difficult to find just the right location for Palms. I wish you well as if you moved it that would be quite the undertaking.
