Julia’s 100 WCGU this we at http://jfb57.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/100-word-challenge-for-grown-ups-week-37/ says this:-
The prompt this week is to go back to last week’s entries. You are to use the last 10 words of the post next to yours and using just 100 words create a story. It may be a follow-on from the previous one or you may like to take it in a different direction.
I’m told that what I have written is quite a bit ‘Off in left field’ and that it will confirm my craziness but hey, I like to play! My section of prompt is ‘walked up to the table slowly, “what is going on?”, here it is.
Growing Table
The medical authority, are battling to control an obesity epidemic, but an abundance of sweets and biscuits covered the office table. There were back-from-a-Transylvanian-holiday treats, and dunkies provided by the plumptious boss. Fresh today, a stack of cakes, brownies and shortbread, courtesy of GT Porky and Co, auditors.
The scrawny dietician walked up to the table slowly, ‘What is going on here?’ ‘Not in my clinic, WE set an example.’ Behind her, the boss’s kilogramically challenged boss, with an epicurean feast of hot cross buns and Easter eggs, retreats, his face flaming, as she swept the booty into the bin.
Ha ha! 😀 I love the playful use of words throughout this one – it makes it feel very much like a faery-tale, or that mixed-up speak used by the Mad Hatter and his crew. It really seems like you’re evoking that spirit, here. Kudos!
The medical authority … sounds like a Government operation … LOL … of course, they would shoot themselves in the foot. A ‘fat’ table at a dietary clinic sounds like a Government operation to me. LOL. Good job, Gilly. I loved this.
Enjoyed this one Gilly! Your use of food related vocabulary was really clever. Yummy!
Thanks Julia it was a clever challenge. You were in my spam this time!
This is great. I don’t think it is out in left field at all. The prompts are meant to inspire and I always love the varieties of inspiration that occur. I love reading so many different voices through this challenge.
Pretty humorous write you have here, Gilly.
I notice you use a lot of words that are not familiar
to me but the meaning becomes noticable as I
continue to read. Like – dunkies – I am assuming
it is a donut that is dunked or biscuit – we eat biscuits
with eggs for breakfast. Still it is a good write. Enjoy it ….
Ha ha. Just like at work when I was still working. People bringing in all sorts of donuts, muffins etc. All that sitting and everyone complaining about getting wider. Loved it.
Not in left field for me either…although I can’t imagine attending that clinic…bet there are a few “kilogramically challenged” folk there! Nice job!
Thank you Lorraine!
Hahaha!
oh, delicious!!!
Nice post!! Love this one 🙂
I like it! Well done. Australia is also facing that obesity problem. We all eat far too much.
I have to say the kids have slowed down on the eating now – when they got here they almost ate us out of house and home. Mr O Jnr 1 has grown SO MUCH since June we had to buy new trousers for school today.
Now I’m hungry and craving sweets 🙂
Very silly entry! Great job!
Great post, and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for reading James!
lol very cleverly done. I’m starving now.
Fascinating challenge – one which you’ve met with originality and humour, Gilly! 🙂
I loved the direction you took this…it worked very well and the images conjured up were scrumptious and frightful rolled into a delicious feast of words. Well written 🙂
Thanks for the lovely comments on my blog…do let me know if you’re on twitter. 🙂
Hi Anna I’m @nkeiruka but I don’t tweet very often!
Brilliant! 🙂
