I’ve just spent a week in Sicily and as you can imagine I have lots of photos to share. Where to begin? I thought I would post some shots of the flowers and plants, they are lovely and some, like the soapwort, are brave little things bursting their way through the soil that is always recovering from Etna’s eruptions. I had Italian students staying with me for three weeks years ago. They brought me a replica of weeds because they are so gorgeous in Italy. I couldn’t believe they were weeds. Did you notice weeds? Can’t recall what part of the country they were from now, which might be helpful.

how wonderful to go to Italy! I envy you Europeans being so close to the countries of my ancestors. If I ever get over there, Britain is my first stop, and then Italy…I’d love to see Cigagna where my paternal grandparents came from in 1921. My maternal grandparents came from Ireland to the states in 1920, but so many relatives on my Irish side have gone back and forth with stories and pictures I almost don’t feel the need to visit there,,,Italy on the other hand is a huge enigma,,My dad, his sister and his parents never returned,,,not even once,,,My Nonny used to say, “we left,,there’s no going back” and my cousins evidently feel the same way! Consequently Italy is a big black hole I’d like to fill up! When Maggie traveled the world, she flew into from Rome and backpacked southward so not even she has seen Cigagna up north.
