To Madiba
From small steps in Xhosa land
You made strides around the world
Who could fail to love you
You led so many by the hand
Rolihlahla without you the world would be a different place
We are blessed and thankful
For the kind of trouble that you made
Because Great Father, you saved an entire race.
South Africa, South Africa he still holds you in his arms
His longest walk is over now and he is safe from harm
Mvezo, your greatest son has passed
But his spirit will ever last.
Heaven has called you to freedom
Rest well now Madiba
Very well penned at a December day like this…
Beautiful homage, my dear Gilly to this great man. May he rest in peace.
Rest is certainly what was overdue – lovely poem, Gilly.
Beautiful and moving Gilly! Those giant strides are going to be hard to follow, by anyone, anywhere.
Love the new look 🙂
A graceful and fitting tribute, Gilly, you have such a light touch, it’s inspiring!

Brilliant tribute and beautiful in its intensity. Rest in peace, Madiba.
A great tribute, to a great man. We need more like him, a forgiving mindset, that moves others, in the same direction. He will be missed. Blessings.
The perfect tribute to a great man, Gilly.
Yes, indeed, he has earned his rest. What a fine tribute to a great man, Gilly!
