Just because it’s been a long Monday at work
because it’s no longer January
because in twenty four days it will be March
because I’m not walking to and from work in the dark
because the days are getting longer
and that means spring
and that means summer
and that means the colour, form and fragrance
of flowers and butterflies
bees and damselflies
and sunshine
because of all these things
I’m bringing you . . .
Pictures from a few years ago taken at a popular TV gardeners home plot, deep in the heart of Devon. I expect it’s changed since then, but it will still be lovely, relaxed and packed with variety. The clue is in the initials, if you visit she may even be there pottering.

NIce to think that spring isn’t too far away. Wouldn’t know if by our weather in the US Northeast.
Oh dear you’re still suffering the big freeze 😦
Hopefully spring will arrive soon for you. Beautiful pictures by the way, see at what you have to look forward to. 🙂
Is that Glebe Cottage? Always fancied a look !
Yep well done! It’s small and in the back of beyond, worth it if you can combine with a walk in Eggesford forest or a North Devon beach perhaps.
I love the slowly building hope in your poem, and the pictures are beautiful. Thanks, Gilly!
And to second cyclingrandma, yes, it’s another miserable day in New Jersey. I’m sore from shoveling snow.
I needed those garden pictures.
a little piece of heaven thank you Gilly … we have had a light shower of rain here but not enough to revive the trees without irrigation … it is quite harsh and dry at the moment 🙂
I want to wish you spring early as long as it doesn’t mean autumn early here
A lovely reminder of what’s to come. Thank you.
That looks so inviting!
It’s so beautiful there Gilly. Thanks for sharing hon. 😀
lovely words and photos. Glad I can enjoy such beauty through your blog.

Lovely! And it’s fantastic that the daylight hours are getting longer!
beautiful shots and equally pretty words introducing them!
I love how you described Glebe Cottage’s location: “the back of beyond.” Sure sounds like the type of place we’d be interested to see when we’re there in August!
Ahh you would have loved it but I’ve just googled and its closed for good.
A great pity it was such a special place.
Wonderful post Gilly what a lovely place ,
Thanks for sharing my friend 🙂
A walk down the memory lane of Spring. You are in need of a tropical vacation. xoxo
Can’t wait for Spring & Summer too. Fun series of colorful, refreshing images. Have a blessed week ahead.
