This is what we would call a man hole cover but I am not sure if there is a hole below the pretty weeds(?). Anyway, I wanted to comment on the intricate iron workmanship on the top or the bottom of the wood circle. 😉
This is neat. It does look like what we call a “manhole” cover — or sewer cover — over here in the States, but I’m guessing — due to the setting — that its a well opening. Either way, it’s lovely. Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make this so beautiful.
Oh…it’s Wednesday…and I am not prepared for the silent post. Oops, am I not supposed to comment either (being wordless?)
You can if you want, now go find a photo!
Right…Wordless
this photo really brought a smile – so inviting
Oh … I can’t wait for the reveal on this WW, Gilly. Is this some kind of herb garden? Whatever … I WANT ONE! Great shot.
Only Jude guessed it! It’s the well head at Challice well garden – see yesterdays post!

Tess it’s the cover for the well in the Challice Well garden that I posted about yesterday!
Oh my. Still, I like the detailed workmanship.

Manhole?
Nope, its the cover over the well in yesterday’s post!
What a strange, but pretty, little manhole. I like your new header, Gilly! 🙂
It’s the well cover in the garden in yesterdays post!
The most beautiful manhole cover I’ve ever seen, Gilly. 🙂 Lovely image for WW.

Ding dong bell, pussy in the well…?
Love the decorative cover. Was this in your recent Glastonbury garden?
Spot on, I knew you’d get it 🙂
That made me smile!
