Cathedral Close, Exeter after a light meal at Cote, my current favourite brasserie. We crossed towards the cathedral, just because, and had a peep at this view.
Then turned along the green.
The lovely building on the left is Mols Coffee House, dated 1596.
We were heading back to the car, but I lingered long enough for some pics in the early evening light.
Then over the cobbles and away home.
With the Royal Clarence Hotel, supposedly the oldest hotel in England, in the background.

Such a lovely tranquil stroll you have taken us on.
I agree. Lovely, peaceful and refreshing! 🙂 Gorgeous light.
what a lovely evening…. cathedrals, cobblestones and coffee. thanks for sharing 🙂
Lovely area, Gilly
What a lovely walk to your car. You have captured the light perfectly in your first three shots. Reminded me a lot of dear old Ludlow with the green near the cathedral.
Gorgeous light .. Looks like a lovely place for a stroll.
Feels like a Royal palace ground…. Loved the quote.
I love evening walks – Exeter looks lovely. My eldest daughter is involved with Exeter City Futures, so I’m taking an interest in the town. Also some of my fathers relatives way back in the 1800’s lived in Exeter, I feel a link.
If ever you’re around give me a shout!
You’re surrounded by so much history, Gilly. Lovely photos. Those doors are quite something. 🙂
