The Sunday Post: Door

It’s Jakes day today and his them for this week is door. Visit him over at http://jakesprinters.wordpress.com/2012/05/26/sunday-post-door/

and maybe join in. Here is my entry, the ‘Door Of No Return’ at Cape Coast, Ghana. For those who aren’t aware, it is at a 17th century castle from where millions of Africans were shipped to America and a life of slavery, never to return. There is nothing I can add.

  1. Jailbreak temptation? This is such a cool door. I love the design, especial that center panel. I suspect it is spaced just right to do its job. Nice share, Gilly. 🙂

  2. Very moving. It’s amazing how one little entrance change the lives of millions. How narrow door became the source of struggle, pain, blood and tears for others. Let this door remind everyone that all of us has the right to be free, to have a chance. That no one owns anyone or has the right to own another being. We are all God’s creation and deserves a life of peace, happiness and freedom to be who we want ourselves to be. Thanks.

  3. Creative use of this theme to make such a powerful point, Gilly. It simply boggles my mind, doesn’t it, to even try to understand how any human being can be so demented as to truly believe he has the right to own and enslave another human being.

  4. Appalling and dreadful conditions for any human being. Your statement says it all .. what more cane be said.
I have been having trouble with my image uplaoder so I am behind on the challenges but we were thinking along the same lines. If it gets corrected you’ll know what I mean.
    Namaste

    1. It was all of those things. I visited several related places while I was in Ghana, a slave market and most poignant of all, a memorial garden visited by many whose ancestors came from there.
