Copper
Your crown of curls lack moisture, essential oils.
Trimmed, layered on top and sides,
thinning but holding on.
Bronze highlights as the clouds gape,
lingering on dry furls.
A crispy crest, shivering, falling
crinkly towards the ground.
Come away with the raggle taggle gypsy-o
These leaves are even special when wet, and they return to copper crispiness as soon as they dry. Beautiful.
They are remarkable, love the way they gradually get replaced with fresh green!
Beautiful tone and sheen to these leaves, and I like the depth of the layers. What kind are they? I love anything copper-coloured.
It’s a copper beech hedge Allyson!
And many thanks for adding me this week to your Wordless Wednesday list. 🙂
It’s taken me a while to work it out!
Bronze highlights as the clouds gape,
lingering on dry furls.

Love the mataphor! I don’t know very many people who can write like that AND shoot fab photos! 🙂
Wonderful imagery in every word, Gilly. I love your small stones for each day. I had thought about particiapating but didn’t want to have time constraint. I’m trying a new non-pressure to post every challenge blog approach this year. You are doing these stones masterfully. Your vision is open to seeing even the simplest things in a grand way. The colors of the leaves are beautiful.
namaste …..
Apt metaphor and lovely photo – such beautiful rich colour. Like chocolate.
Nice touch… and imagery.
