Recently I’ve collected various bits of debris on the beach to recycle and thinking about what is art. I consider myself to be quite creative and open to ideas, but art is very subjective isn’t it? I may be interested in Tracey Emin but I wouldn’t want to take her work home.
Broomhill sculpture garden has many thought provoking pieces, here are four, each with a close up,

Tell me your thoughts, love them or hate them?
I love all those sculptures for different reasons, the first made me think of missiles, war and destruction but the last blue one was my favourite, loved the colour and shape. Thank you for sharing.
It was one of the most surprising Irene, thanks for visiting 🙂
From those close ups, you definitely HAVE to be there! Hubby has the clear message that I need to visit! After we come back from France though!! Lucky lady aren’t I?
Yes you are!
I wouldn’t want to take any of these home either Gilly, but they are each striking in their own way. Is the first a representation of the crucifixion?
I’m not sure, but that was my interpretation!
These are all thought provoking (yes, I mean it) and imaginative. I can’t say out loud what I first thought the first one is (heh heh). The blue one made me think of a hug slug and the one you call the spindly tree made me thing of books upon books up the branches and below. The close-ups show a completely different perspective. ❤
Ha ha, Tess, methinks it might be what I thought too.
So…I won’t tell if you won’t.
Tut tut Christine 😉
I wish I had such an imagination as these sculptors!
Sigh. Still I can’t stop laughing.
Interesting pieces Gilly….as you say I wouldn’t want to bring them home, but fascinating to look at
as with an awful lot of art!
Love these Gilly if I had a big yard………….
and a big wallet!
No, I wouldn’t like to bring them home but isn’t that with most pieces of modern art? But specially the close-ups look quite interesting and I could consider to have a picture on the wall like that….
Thanks for visiting me! 🙂
The first one looks like a contemporary headstone. And I quite like photographing headstones. The rest… no, they don’t do much for me. I’m not really into this kind of artwork, but I don’t mind looking…
I prefer ones like this: http://smallbluegreenflowers.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/dscf8979.jpg
Yes yours is what I wold prefer in my own garden, but I enjoy sculpture in other peoples!
They are interesting for sure. I wouldn’t want to take them home either. Some art is meant to be enjoyed outside.
Absolutely, but its good to look!
I love them, but like you with Tracy Emin, I wouldn’t want any for myself. The first one reminded me of the Space Shuttle 🙂
Oh yes, I like your thinking!
Hmmm…while I love them to look at I would not want them at home.
That seems to be the general opinion, including mine!
These are indeed very creative, but I’m not very good at interpreting what they are supposed to represent. I do love the blue one though, from a distance.
Yes the colour is a winner!
The first makes me think of vandalised headstones, certainly has religious undertones. The others are bit on the wierd and wonderful side. 🙂
Yes they are very imaginative 🙂
Nice capture of these interesting art sculptures. Yes, indeed, art is subjective. I think the art we want to surround ourselves with is always different then the art we see and cannot figure out. These are art sculptures but aren’t for everyone including me. 😳
I feel the same Issy, but still love looking!
I find them all interesting and I’m always curious as to what the artist was thinking. However, I wouldn’t want them in my house in or in my yard. But I always appreciate, even if I don’t like it or understand it.
Just the same as me TBM!
Man-made Art next to Nature’s Art, brilliant and amazing. Reminds me of an outdoor Art place in Napa my brother-in-law took me and my family last Spring. Exciting post my friend. Have a wonderful Summer and thanks for the recent visit. The post on London Summer was actually the trimmed version. Each day there was load full of adventure and warm memories. Take care!
If you have pics from the ones in Napa it would be great to see them sometime!
The first photo is so stunning!
Thanks Celestine dear!
