Mundane and meaningful objects. Beautiful everyday things. This week, surprise us with something or someone (extra)ordinary.
Cheri Lucas Rowlands likes to look for beauty in everyday things, as I and many of my blogging friends do. My friend brought me this very precious present this week, knowing that I would love it. I hope you and Cheri do as well.

This is unusual and beautiful. What is it? I have some idea but not certain. Great choice! 🙂 ❤
It’s the remains of a tomatillo, thanks honey!
Lovely work!
Thank you so much 🙂
I love these photos, Gilly. Great choice for this theme. I don’t know the name of it, have seen photos of it.
Tomatillo Amy!
Ah, Mexican husk tomato! I thought some kind of flower seeds were inside… Silly me. 😀
I’ve never heard that name, thanks Amy!
These come off those little orange fruits don’t they? Kumquats or something? I remember seeing them as a child and wanting to keep them all, but they become so brittle over time and we moved house a lot! Lovely photo!
Close Laura, this was a tomatillo casing!
Ah ok! We don’t really get those in the UK!
I’m in the UK and my friend grew them 😀
Well you learn something new every day! I never thought we could here, but I guess a green-fingered determined individual can grow anything!
Beautiful!
Thanks Livvy!
Oh, that’s lovely, Gilly! And so quick off the mark too 🙂
Thanks sweetie, nature at its best!
So lovely. I love the shadows!
Thanks Rachel, tomatillo remains!
Absolutely gorgeous shots Gilly and I love the shadow reflections in the shots. Such a dainty and fine ‘seed’ ?
The casing around a tomatillo!
A Mexican husk tomato … well, slap me with a wet fish Gilly! I never even knew what it was. Had to go and Google it. LOL!
Wow what a fantastic shot…. the shadow makes it even better. Love it!
Aww thanks you’re so kind!
Welcome 🙂 I really was drawn in by the image.
Chinese lanterns or at least their skeletons. I love them in all stages, including the extraordinary one you show.

Not quite, but the same family I think – tomatillo!
Whoops! Well, they’re lovely anyway. 🙂
How wonderful, Gilly….so delicate. And the shadow just adds to the whole 😊

Now this is right up your street!
Hohoho! So it is 😊
It’s translucent and beautiful. You really have an eye for the unusual 😊
Thanks my sis, I just keep my eyes open!
Very, very good eyes 🙂
What a beautiful husk, Gilly! It looks so fragile and luminous. Lovely images with the shadows. 🙂
Gorgeous images!
brings to mind the word dainty…and for me, is also reminiscent of a jelly fish. lovely images
Beautifully photographed Gilly and very artistic. So do tell, how did you get that shadow? From natural light or a lamp? I don’t believe I have heard of tomatillo before. I’d have gone for a Physalis too!
A tomatillo? I would never have guessed. Delicate. 🙂
No not A tomatillo, I realize. It’s what it’s covered in…like a skin, right?
Stunning and extraoridnary, Gilly. Really nice choice for the challenge.
Beautiful Gilly!
Delicate and dainty, you would have to handle with care. Lovely intricate shadows.
beautiful delicate captures of a very fine piece of fairy weaving Gilly 🙂
