Shades of Ephesus

I posted a photo of the library of Celsus yesterday in black and white, and my inquisitive friend Jude wanted to know what colour it actually was.

Perhaps 2000 year ago, it might have been brighter, a warm rosey shade, we’ll never know. But here is what my camera saw.

Mystery solved Jude? By the way, the lady is Arete, goddess of virtue!

Paula’s Black and White Sunday, Texture

I’m posting for Paula, over at Lost inTranslation who says,

For this theme you are invited to translate the tactile quality of the surface of an object into an image, and to make it black and white.

I’ve chosen some texture from 2500 years ago, that’s getting more tactile as it ages.

Ephesus in Turkey is a site of many wonders, here are just three photos for the challenge.
