Weekly Photo Challenge: The World Through my Eyes

Cheri Lucas Rowlands says,

‘The World Through Your Eyes. Earlier this week, photographer Ming Thein gave us an overview of the fundamentals of photography and talked about observing your subject or scene and what’s needed to create a good photograph. We see many excellent shots out there in which a photographer’s intent is clear: where he or she leads us to the photo’s subject or main focus — using light, composition, and other criteria — and is able to convey what they see in their mind at the moment of capture.

It’s that little extra something in a snapshot that transforms a photograph into something more: a visual interpretation of one’s vision. A story, captured in a frame. It’s that special skill that Ming mentioned — the photographer’s eye.’

This is my interpretation. My eyes see art, do yours?

Jake’s Sunday Post: Architecture

I love architecture, the differences around the world and thoughout history. I’m a small city kind of girl, so when I visit somewhere like Kuala Lumpur I’m bowled over. Here is a view of some of KL’s architecture taken from the KLTower – an amazing building itself.

Visit http://jakesprinters.wordpress.com/2012/11/17/sunday-post-architecture/ for some more architecture.

Travel Theme: Soft

Ailsa at Wheres my backpack has chosen ‘Soft’ for her travel theme this week. This is a Victoria Crowned Pigeon and  I took the photo at Kuala Lumpur bird park, the worlds largest free flight aviary. I’m sure its feathers and beautiful crest would feel very soft. They are ground dwellers, quite large and they originate from New Guinea. They are named after Queen Victoria. Victoria Crowned Pigeon

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is about choosing your favourite photo. She says

‘We all have our brilliant moments and feel like we have taken a photograph that would fit in perfectly into the Life or National Geographic Magazines.   I want to see those.  Your photographs can be straight out of the camera or edited in Photoshop or other software.  I’m excited to see everyone’s photography.’

I know that my choice isn’t of particularly high standard, but it is probably my all time favourite. Every time I see it it takes me back to the wonderful city of Kuala Lumpur and I sit and dream of returning.

Sunday Post: Road

Jake says ‘A road is a route, or way on land between two places, which typically has been paved or otherwise improved to allow travel by some conveyance, including a horse, cart, or motor vehicle’. Visit him over at http://jakesprinters.wordpress.com/2012/07/28/sunday-post-road/ for this weeks Sunday post, check out his animation and join in with the challenge. Here is my entry, Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting Moment 2

Like Isobel http://isobelandcat.wordpress.com/2012/06/29/fleeting-moment-on-the-street/ I have already posted a fleeting moment, but didn’t interpret the theme as it was intended. So here is my second attempt, taken on the street in Kuala Lumpur of a reflection I spotted overhead.

Travel Theme: Parks

Ailsa’s challenge this week has the theme of parks and hers features the staggeringly beautiful work of Piet Oudolf – If you’ve never heard of him you must go over and look,  http://wheresmybackpack.com/2012/06/22/travel-theme-parks/

My entry is more frivilous, it was taken early in the morning from my room somewhere around the 28th floor of the Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and its the children’s part of KLCC park.
