January Small Stones # 18

Bonjour mademoiselle

So thrilled this morning when at 8.15 I saw a small black lady waiting at the pelican crossing on a complex junction. She’s been missing for a few weeks you see and I was concerned for her well being. She always waits for the green light, but you never know do you? Because sometimes, when its rush hour drivers are tempted to dash on through. She cheers everyone up with her elegant and proud air as she looks both ways to double check, and she always takes her time. She is one of those ladies whose age is hard to determine, very well groomed. So today she was crossing my way and she looked up at me quite sweetly, I’m sure she was pleased to see me as well. We didn’t chat though; she took a right towards Magdalen while I headed on to work.

A bientot mademoiselle pussycat!

  1. it’s funny how people become landmarks, and sad when they disappear, especially when they are elderly. I can u dee stand why people believe in ghosts when our imaginations can see the people so clearly still walking our neighbourhoods long after they have gone.

    Pourquoi pussycat?
    Thanks for the mention!

    1. Isobel she IS a cat, a sweet and very clever one who goes across the road at a busy crossroads and waits until the little green man comes on and the cars to stop! Next time I see her I’ll try to get my camera out in time! She’s amazing and everyone stands to watch her not believing their eyes.

  2. Gosh that is amazing!
I am missing Sonny, our resident feral, also a black cat. He’s been missi g for several days. I expect he’s out and about in his role of kitten father, but I’ll be glad to hear his demanding miaow for breakfast.

  3. This was a perfect metaphor for how anything
or anyone can affect us even in silence. This cat
was reading huge concerns about him.her as it
passed you. I’m sure good spirits were left behind
    becuase you cared.
    Lovely,
    Isadora
