Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh

Otterton in East Devon has it’s own mill, producing flour and powered by the River Otter. This is real flour, not the mass produced stuff we find in the supermarkets, but artisan quality and very tasty. They mill a few times a month and you can buy it FRESH in standard packs or larger sacks. I actually tried it, freshly milled and delicious.

  1. Such a great subject for this challenge! I never thought of fresh flour…I doubt others will either, as such mills are so few and far between now.
Love all your pics..especially the first!

  2. I recognise that man in the mill! And those lovely wooden beams in the ceiling..hang on, oh yes, i’ve been there and can confirm that the flour is fresh and kind of tasty!

It’s a good place to spot otters and beavers too!

  3. I am gluten free now but I can well recall the delightful hearty flavour of non-commercial ground flour. Fresh and way healthier that the regular supermarket stuff for sure. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I’ve always wondered who ever figured out that if you cut that long grass and grind it and mix it with other stuff you will get bread … how did they figure that out? 😉

I would love to hear from you . . .
