A Bench Edit

Jude’s Bench Challenge for June is to process and image with an arty effect, hooray, that’s licence to play!

I’ve used Photoshop, Pixlr and Snapseed to create this image, but I can’t remember what steps I took to get to the end result.

The photo was taken on the beach path at Dawlish Warren in February. The perspective makes it appear that its a row of single seats but they are in fact benches for two or three peopel. I do quite like the end result and I expect I’ll try some more this month. Perhaps you’ll join in too?

  1. Evocative seats, with a look of a century ago. I’m looking forward to this month’s benches, and to learning a bit about post processing. Step by step please. Do you have to be connected to the Internet to use the programs?

And bravo for June benching before Jude!

    1. You don’t need to be connected to use them just to download the app in the first place. Photoshop is a program, the others are android apps but there are plenty of similar in the apple store – I only use free ones! Apps are a lot easier to use than Photoshop, just a touch and a photo can be transformed completely. Give it a try!

      1. Thanks so much – and please don’t tempt me. I have a heavy program of Polish ahead of me. J insists we work towards conversing in Polish. It’ll shut me up at least – and maybe even him. Playing around with apps appeals much more to this lazy one.

  2. Never mind which steps you used, Gilly, you’ve created a balanced and interesting image here ~ the structural, dark benches against the lighter, blurred background. It makes me wonder what stories those benches could tell, about the people who have sat on them in days gone by! 🙂

  3. Love the photo Gilly 😀
In case you are wondering about the comments about you being early, that’s because the change takes place on the first Sunday – not the 1st of the month, so we got an extra beach week. No matter, I like it very much and can’t wait to see what else you do throughout the month 🙂
    Jude xx

  4. I like it too, and I didn’t realise it was first Sunday either. What sort of a silly rule is that, Jude? 🙂 I took some Yarmouth benches today that are in dire need of processing. Any offers?

      1. I’ve done a beach one, and my Monday walk tomorrow has some benches that don’t fit this month’s challenge. That’s all I can manage for now 🙂

I would love to hear from you . . .
