September: Flower Portrait

Jude asks for a single picture of either a favourite flower or an unusual one for September’s challenge. As I failed miserably to find an entry last month, I was determined to make it this time. So yesterday, I had a flying visit to Killerton to see what was on offer in their late summer border.
I’ve never been a particular fan of Canna Lily’s, but at this time of year they make a bright, bold statement in the border. The delicate petals of this one, Canna Indica I believe, attracted my attention.

You can join Jude’s challenge here, and you have until the end of September to showcase a single flower.

Black and White Sunday: Portrait

Paula hopes not to give us a headache with this weeks black and white challenge. I did briefly think ‘oh no’, I can’t do portraits, and most people don’t want their photograph taken -me included! But then I remembered these, taken a few years ago, of my niece at fourteen, a lovely young girl on the cusp of womanhood.

She’s all grown up now and will be heading to uni soon, the begining of a very bright future.
If you’d like to join the challenge pop over to Paula’s place, you’ll get a warm welcome.

Mirror

The weekly photo challenge, I can’t believe it’s Friday again, but I’m really happy as I have two weeks leave now.

Jen H chose Mirror as the them for the challenge this week, and left us to interpret it in any way we like. I went to Bystock Ponds last weekend, and it was a lovely day for reflections, here’s one of my captures.

In the frame

This week, I’d love for you to look at things a bit differently. Whether it’s through an actual picture frame, a few stalks of grass, or even the spokes of a bicycle tire, find an alternative frame to the world around you and share what you see!

So says Nancy Thanki at the Daily Post for this weeks Photo Challenge.

I feel that my photo has frames within frames within frames . . . what do you think?
