Woodbury common is an area of heathland a few miles east of Exeter, with an ancient hill fort known as Woodbury Castle and stunning views of the sea and abundant wildlife. If you know the right place to look and the right time you may just get lucky and see these!
Wild Orchids – Dactylorhiza Maculata or Dactylorhiza Fuchsii – Can anyone clarify?
This is a scheduled post, see you soon!
So beautiful, Gilly. π
Sweetly elegant π
There’s something special about temperate-climate orchids.
A very subtle beauty π
They are such special plants. It’s always a pleasure to see them because they are so secretive. Thanks for sharing, Gilly. And I’m looking forward to hearing about your travels!
Thank you, let’s hope they remain secret enough to thrive.
Lovely … don’t know anything about these … except that they’re beautiful.
They are totally different from the exotic varieties you’re used to!
Breathtaking but I am at a loss regarding names.
Thank you, they are such gentle beauties.

Wonderful! I hope you are having fun!
They’re orchids?
Yes they most certainly are!
What a beautiful series of photos of wild orchids. The combination of the five pictures is like a collage, each adding to the beauty in a different way. Very nicely done.
lovely photos
Have never seen any like these before! They are beautiful.
No, they like a cooler climate than yours!
Lovely!
Thank you π
These are lovely, really delicate. Looks like a nice walk. Were your dogs with you?
Yes, rabbit hunting – unsuccessfully thank goodness!
I couldn’t get MasterB in last night as he had a mouse. Eventually i distracted him and the mouse escaped.
