Fascinating! How long has it been standing Gilly?
No one knows for certain, it was mentioned in 1702 but was possible ‘Christianised’ from a prehistoric menhir. It’s local granite and it stands on a ley line.

My question also…how old is this cross, do you know?
Current thought is that is was ‘Christianised’ a few hundred years ago. It was first mentioned in print in 1702 but believed to have beem made from a prehistoric menhir and it’s on a ley line.
