if he will take grandma spider for a dance tonight
if she will eat him for supper with a garnish
of moth on the side
if he will be lying in wait for me in the morning,
if he will spin a of tangle silk to trap my eyelashes
if he will quietly spend tomorrow in my hair

I wonder if Sonel will like him?
I don’t know if Sonel likes him but I love him – and your story about Grandmother Charlotte!
What a cool macro shot, Gilly. Sonel might like this one. 🙂
I sure do Amy. You know I do. 😆
You’re so right. This is one amazing macro shot for sure. 😀 ♥
Amazing shot! I wonder what kind of spider this is? I don’t like spiders, but admit they are interesting close-up, though NOT in my hair thank you!
It’s a Garden Cross Jude, everywhere in early autumn. I can cope if they are outdoors and I know exactly where they are!
I keep walking into spider webs 😦
While I think Spiders are one of the most beautiful creatures, they are also one of the only things that make me loose ALL lady like composure when I see one. I will awaken out of my childish trance on top of a chair with my skirt around my waist screaming. I LOVE this poem. It made the hair stand up on my arms. Shiver.
I love the photo, and your creative and terrifying “I wonders …” “A tangle of slik to trap my eyelashes” is far too graphic.
I’ve learnt that at this time of the year I need to wave my arm in front of me to break the thread, when I walk down the path in the morning.:-)
I’m glad I’m waayy over here. Don’t like spiders but the close-up is an eye-opener. Great photo, Gilly. 😀 ❤
They’re okay outdoors – just about!
😀 😀 😀 That’s for sure!
That’s a beauty of a spider, Gilly. Revealing touch of Arachnophobia there, all the more feat of courage in capturing a macro.
It was pretty still, even when I shook the leaf to try to get it to show me its eyes!
That’s daring …. Bet you were standing by with an alert caution ….
Sonel will LOVE him but for me he’s a bit of a horror story, Gilly 🙂
hahahah! Of course I do Jo but no horror at all. I wish I could find these beauties here by us. I think Gilly must deport it so it can come and live here. 😆
I’d be terrified if I saw one in the house, but outside its okay!
Great macro, Gilly!
Thanks Sue, a bit less breeze would have been better!
Such gorgeous colours and patterns, I have never seen such a colourful spider.
I don’t know where they go the rest of the year, I only see them in early autumn!
Oh, of course I love it Gilly! How can you wonder? 😆
What a beauty! I love the colours and what a great shot! Looks like Araneus (orb-weaving spider) and harmless of course. To me all spiders are harmless, as you know by now. Thanks for sharing this little cutie and for thinking of me. 😀 ♥
PS: I was so exited about this beauty I forgot to tell you I also love the poem. If you do find it in your hair, don’t worry. It will catch all the mosquitoes and bugs that try to bite you. LOL!
hahaha its too cold for mozzies now and I hope I don’t have any head bugs!
hahahaha! Don’t worry, they eat other bugs as well. 😀
Lovely poem to go with a nicely coloured spider. I hope it’s not poisonous!
thanks sis, it isn’t poisonous thanks goodness! We don’t Have any that are in the UK, just a very rare chance that one will sting you!
Thankfully. You are brave though 🙂
Great spider pic.
Thanks Laura!
Great close up, Gilly. I certainly wouldn’t want to have to wonder if he was going to take up residence in my hair though. 😯
It’s okay, I’ve made it down the path every day 🙂
Wonderfully woven Gilly💕
Thank you Seonaid x:-)x
LOL 🙂
Beautiful markings on this spider. I’ll enjoy it from afar. 😳
I stayed a foot away 🙂
