Weekly Photo Challenge: Journey

The weeks photo challenge is what I like to do most of all – journey! A journey for me is to be as far away from my normal world as possible, not necessarily in distance, but  in culture, landscape, climate and  experience. So the photo I have chosen was taken in Borneo, the greatest distance I have travelled, so far, and as this is in rain forest it’s really different from temperate England. This is the Kinabatanga river in Sabah.

Poisonous green snakes nestled in the trees and wild orang utans and proboscis monkeys were up there too. If you check out a post from last year you will be able to read more about this particular journey. https://lucidgypsy.wordpress.com/2011/05/20/nests-of-primates/

You couldn’t drag me into that enchanted forest with a team of wild horses. (apologies for cliche).

    1. Oh Tess you are so funny! Honestly it was amazing, I saw so many things (and got very sick lol) and would love to return. If you have time read the link i posted.

  2. Breath taking and lovely. So different from what I’m accustomed to. I mean, we have prairie rattlers which are poisonous snakes but no water or trees. Your photograph makes me feel like I’m there floating down a slow moving river.

  3. The serenity of the landscape is almost tranquil. I suspect some type of mosquitoes repellent is a must, though. I could deal with the snake, less getting bitten, of course… but mosquitoes seem to think I’m the appetizer no matter how many people are around.

    1. We were told that the Green snake was deadly, the kind where you have to get medical attention very quickly. It was twelve feet above my head! Of course the boatman could have been creating drama, who knows! 🙂

  4. From reading your previous post I understand why you entered this photo. An amazing journey, indeed. A trip of this kind would be one in a lifetime for me. Thanks for sharing.
