Elisa has posted her new music in pictures challenge today instead of Friday, a good idea as so many people post the weekend challenges. Thursday is good for me, it’s a bit of a lull day usually, so this will make me think. She has posted a link to the lovely Sara Ramirez version of The Story, and I’ve chosen this photo because I think it’s so important to listen to the stories our children tell us.
Here, some school children were given a hoarding as an art space, while it hid some conversion work. I hope they had photos of their individual and joint contributions.

Well, I hit a key somewhere that sent my page into orbit and posted my incomplete message. I MEANT to say I LOVE your new header photo and I ESPECIALLY LOVE your new subtitle — identifying yourself as a writer and photographer. You most definitely are both in good measure!
Also, recently you posted a piece that you referred to as rather “dark,” and I meant to comment on it, but got sidetracked with all the work and problems. Rather than try to hunt for it in my limited time, I will tell you here what I was going to say. My comment is that, while that particular piece was certainly more dark than what I would read for enjoyment, it was primarily another fine example of your special gift as a writer. You have a particular gift, Gilly, for saying a very great deal without “saying” it in specific, direct words. I’ve seen it in many of your other pieces. It is not a gift that all writers have. Use it often. Feed that gift and give it priority in your work. It can take you far.
