Six Word Saturday
Just because I think it’s pretty.

The town crier and the doner register guy
I had a lovely lunchtime encounter today. Over in the main hospital concourse was a stand promoting and raising awareness of organ donation, and these two beaming gentlemen greeted me.
They didn’t need to convert me, if any bits of me are useful after I’ve popped my clogs that’s fine by me, share me around. If you’re not already on the donor register, check it out here and sign up if you can.
Now, I missed any shouting about it that the town crier did, but he and his buddy were happy to chat and have their photos taken. Apparently Roger Bourgein, who is the Exmouth Town Crier, does around 200 events a year and earns a pittance doing so!
Here he is in all his regalia, what a lovely smile.

Thanks guys for brightening up my lunch break, keep doing what you’re doing.

How many Santas?
When I was little Waltons was a shop in Exeter that had the most wonderful Christmas displays. You walked through an area of display windows that seemed really big at the time. Each window was more magical then the one before, and waiting at the end was Father Christmas, in his red coat and with a real white beard. In those less commercial days it was one of the very best things about Christmas.
There are still displays like Waltons, often found in garden centres, and Keydells has multiplied the magic many times over. Look at all these Santas!
And their visitors,

Florentine evenings
On a warm summer evening what could be nicer than a stroll around Florence? Whether you like to absorb some culture, like Signore Aleghieri Dante’s statue. in Piazza Santa Croce,

or, find a delicious and authentic meal in the Mercato Centrale.
then you could catch a bus up to Piazzale Michelangelo, join the crowds and watch the sun go down.
If you’re really lucky there might be a gelatto festival taking place!
Now, if I was going to the Piazzale again,I’d walk back down the hill instead of waiting ages for a bus, that then got caught in a traffic jam, but hey, we live and learn.
Unless you’re staying in the Oltrarno, the Piazza Della Repubblica may be on your way back to your hotel, and it’s a lively place for a little nightcap.

If you get lost in any back alleys,

never worry,

wherever you are the Duomo will always help you to get your bearings.
