Weekly Photo Challenge: Colour

Color. Splashed on the walls of cities, in batches of flowers in gardens, in the doodles of students, and on the palettes of artists, color is everywhere: it may represent our mood, and it can affect our mood. In photography, you can use a spectrum of colors to bring a place to life, or focus on a single shade to make a bold statement. Conversely, you can shoot in black-and-white or remove color in editing mode for a different effect.

So says Cherie Lucas over at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/04/05/weekly-photo-challenge-color/ pop across and I’m sure you’ll see some amazing photos!

Weekly Photo Challenge: A Day in My Life

Sara Rosso created the Weekly Photo Challenge this week and asks us to show our day. I really hope that all of you had a more interesting one than I did, I’ve been flitting around getting things done so that I can play for the next three days! You can join in at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/03/29/photo-challenge-day-in-the-life/

So how was your day?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lunchtime

Lunchtime on a weekday is about eating quickly at my desk and then going out for some fresh air to help keep myself awake for the afternoon. I always have my phone camera with me and keep my eyes open, these photos were taken at various times of the year. Sometimes I walk to the main building, the hospital, where there are often health related displays like the robotic surgery equipment I showed you recently. Below is a walk through, blow up model of the lungs to raise awareness of lung disease a couple of months ago. There are very old trees, and wide grassy areas around the campus and also a childrens park nearby as well as a lovely garden in the cancer support centre. If the weather is just too inclement I’ve been known to walk the very long corridors of the hospital to check out the constantly changing artwork on the walls, check out the shops or sit in one of several cafes. Not bad for a lunch break is it?

What does lunchtime mean to you? share at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/photo-challenge-lunchtime/

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details 2

Sitting in for a surgeon
Sitting in for a surgeon

I should have thought of this in the first place! The hospital where I work is pioneering new research into robotic surgery and yesterday a demo robot, complete with computer was on display so that visitors could have a go – but not on patients! When surgeons use robot assistance they sit at a computer guiding the procedure on a 3D screen and it is believed that the technology reduces stress for clinicians as well as promoting faster recovery after complex surgery and reduced blood loss. It was fascinating to watch a visitor try it and I would have loved to as well but my lunch break was nearly over. Of course I only had my mobile so the pics aren’t the best quality.

A best of a machine!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique

As soon as I saw the challenge I knew this photo was my choice, taken last Sunday at a sculpture exhibition at, you guessed it, Rosemoor.

Love is the topic this week, I hope it’s all around and that you love my love.

Weekly Photo Challenge# Beyond

Sara Rosso says,
‘Do you have a photo which invites the viewer to look beyond? Are there hidden depths in the background? Is the focal point just a framing for the rest of the picture? If it’s not clear why we should look beyond, tell us! Lead us through the story in your photo.’ for this weeks challenge. I’ve chosen three photos and I hope its clear why you should look!
