Midweek. What to do to make Humpday pass well? On Sunday I walked at Bowling Green Marsh and the weather was dismal, damp and mizzely. There were hundreds, perhaps thousands of resting migratory birds, but I didn’t have my camera and I had my hands full with the dogs. This was the best I could do with my phone camera.
These out of focus sweeties are widgeon. Today, the sky was brilliant blue, so I checked the tide tables and convinced a hobbit that he needed to drive me. I promised him treats – he’s a bird lover, he prefers birds of prey really but has never been there. I still only had my phone camera, but this was the view.
I ran him down the lane, into the hide and then to the viewing platform. Pretty good for a lunchtime jaunt eh?

Hi,
Very nice photos from your phone camera. I love the first photo with the mist in the background, very nice.
Thanks, it’s quote good for a phone and acts as my point and shoot!
The hobbit likes this.
Isn’t it strange to think that a mere 5 minutes of driving can separate the insanity of an open plan office in Wonford and a gorgeous capsule of tranquility along the estuary.
Next time I will be armed with a super zoom camera in anticipation of catching a glimpse of an osprey. An osprey on the estuary…well, well! Who would have thought it, huh?
Hey now everyone can see why you’re my hobbit! and Jo is jealous 🙂
Looks like a lovely walk despite the mizzely weather! Nice photos from your phone camera, Gilly!
Thanks Cathy, at least it’s always to hand!
That’s so true! Better to use what you have on hand than to use nothing at all. I don’t even have an iPhone and my camera’s quite heavy, so I don’t carry it around all the time. I miss a lot of things because of that. 🙂
Mine isn’t an i phone the cameras aren’t as good as my Sony experia 🙂
That’s better than any of my lunchtime jaunts.
I’m sure you could find somewhere special?
migratory birds – they are a global wonder!
Yes, I love David Attenborough’s wildlife films showing us just how wonderful they are!
It’s amazing what a bit of Sun can do. The first picture was exciting , with all the birds feeding and resting. There’s a lot of white birds around Houston feeding on the green grass and close to the lakes. Just don’t know what they are.
Could they be egrets?
Ooh, I could do with a little trip in the sun. I know it’s there, I’ve seen it out of the window. Best I could do at lunchtime was to slap some paint on a journal page. I suppose that counts as ‘leisure’ too……..?
It does yes, but I have to try to get some light each day at lunch while the days are so short. So glad I went yesterday because today it rained and I walked for twenty minutes with my umbrella.
Yes, Gilly, they are pretty good 🙂
It was lovely Celestine and not really cold even!
What i want to know is why DO I never run in to Hobbits…life is Not fair at all
My hobbit has revealed himself with a photo!
Now I really am jealous…what a cute Hobbit
and he buys me chocolate!
Lucky girl 😀 Love that out of focus shot!
