I love summer. I try to convince myself that autumn is beautiful, a palette of rich colour,a time to prepare for Christmas, settling in the warm for winter with some good books, but it doesn’t work. I just start counting the days until spring, especially once the shortest day has past. Leaving for work in the dark and not returning home until dark, I could easily fall prey to seasonal affective disorder. Photos are one the things I use to keep myself sane, looking back over best parts of the year, so I’ve chosen one from each month of the summer to share with you.

April, not quite summer but full of promise.

August across fields to Lyme Bay.

September, my favourite garden full of colour.
It hasn’t been the easiest summer, but it has been rich with experiences and adventures. Now, let winter be short and gentle!

Spring is my favourite season; the days gradually inching away the dark; bluebells, lush grass, buds; MasterB racing round the garden. Now its all in reverse. *Sigh*
Even the tiniest hint of a snowdrop makes me feel better!
It’s once we are past 21st 🙂 Dec that I start to feel hopeful.
The season I’m in is my favourite. Lovely blog Gilly.
Just gorgeous Gilly and July is my top favourite but only because there’s a horse in the photo..heheheh. All your other shots are just amazing. I love Autumn. There seem to be less leaves here than in Spring..hahaha.
Thanks for sharing hon. 😀 *big hugs*
These are beautiful and a wonderful reminder of warm summer days. I love the one of the harbour with all its colours and the reflection in the water.
I’m with you there Gilly!
Beautiful pictures- and I also miss summer
That is such a beautiful wish, Gilly! Yes, may it be short and gentle!
Wonderful opening to a new month! 🙂
Oh, Gilly, I’m with you! September here hasn’t been too bad, but it’s definitely getting chilly and the leaves are showing that first tinge of brown. The dreary short days can’t be far behind! Thank you for this wonderful summer sampler.
Your photography is just terrific, you always show places that I wish I could go. 🙂
I do love Autumn, the chance to pull on long boots and jumpers, and that lingering golden light, with long lanky shadows. I love the fruit and seeds spilling and bursting all across the earth. I love misty mornings and days with crisp clear skies. But I also love your look back over the summer…..great idea Gilly 🙂
Autumn … a little like Sundays, or the last day of one’s holiday 😦 I commiserate! Love the uncropped growth atop the sentinal hedge of your favourite garden.
Amen!! And, for the record, I adore fall. You can have the heat of summer. Margie
If everything looks this beautiful, I want it to be always October. It’s pumpkin patch adventure for me and family next weekend. How about you? I bet your Fall season will be awesome. Take care!
Gorgeous pics, Gilly. I hope your winter is not too harsh this year. )
At first scroll, I planned to choose Brixham harbour as my favourite until I arrived at the end. The September photo WINS. I like order and clean lines. Wonderful garden maintenance. 🙂
Such as great post…! Absolutely loved it.
where did summer go? Beautiful photos
Is that last photo real?
Lol yes 🙂
Ahhhh. So lovely. I’m surprised things are still quite green in September.
Aahhh …. fall my favorite time as is spring. Here in Florida they are the same. We have n o changes in colors. The temp match each other but the hot humid days of summer are gone.
Now, if we could stop the rain that has been falling for weeks. I have just about started to grow webbed feet. ~~~~~~ : – )
Love these all, Gilly. Thanks for the walk down summer’s lane.
I totally remember those pics esp. the earlier ones. Nice remembrance of summer’s past.
