A lttle touch of Polish pretty pink for square September.
Day 14 of Becky’s challenge and you can still join in.
Leya has posted some stunning photos this week, for her challenge of ‘fences’. I really like the Tolkien quote she’s included, but I’ll let you find it for yourself.
Mine is a little wooden fence around a pretty thatched cottage in east Devon.
It would be a nice place for a holiday wouldn’t it?
Join Leya here.

This young lass doesn’t look particularly tickled does she? But then the shop behind her is probably more my cup of tea than hers.
I’m always tickled pink when I visit Bridport, it’s just that kind of town.
It’s day 11 of Becky’s Square September challenge and I’m leaving on a jet plane!
Becky’s posted square flamingo’s, real and unreal for Pink September. I have no real ones, but I I do have these to offer.
They make me smile anyway.
Anyone remember the song by Manfred Mann? Here’s an ear worm for you.
When she walks by
she brightens up the neighbourhood
Oh every guy would make her his if he just could
if she just would
The manor of Poltimore was bequeathed to the Bampfylde family by a Canon of Exeter Cathedral, at the end of the 13th century. It’s likely that a house was built on the estate, but no trace has been found near the present site. The current house was completed in the middle of the 16th century and was lived in by the family until 1920.
Since then it’s been a school, a WW2 evacuation centre and a hospital.
The house fell into a dilapidated state after an arson attack in 1987. This is how it looks now.
In 2000, a trust was set up to try to preserve the house. Half a million pounds was donated by English heritage, in 2009 to begin the restoration process. Sadly it will take an awful lot more to return it to o its full glory.
The hedgerows are changing colour as we transition from summer to autumn, and there are subtle shades of pink if you look closely. This was in the valley park yesterday, where Flora and George wore themselves out chasing swallows.
I hope you’re all feeling in the pink today, have a relaxed Sunday and join Becky’s challenge.
This is my writing groups blog, so I thought I’d share via Lucid Gypsy
The first of October heralds a feast of words here in Exeter. It’s Exeter poetry Festival until the 7th, with events at the City Gate, Phoenix and the library, something for everyone.
This year Kimwei McCarthy, the current Bard of Exeter with be there, as well as the wonderful Matt Harvey, one time official Wimbledon Poet, Joanna Trollope and many more.
Later in the month, Literature Works is offering a free half day training session for Devon based (or nearby) poets who may be interested in working in Memory Cafes.
The workshop is at Exeter Central Library on Wed 19 Sept from 1.30 to 4.30pm. Full details at https://nationalmemoryday.org.uk/national-memory-day-poet-training-session-in-devon/
October 4th is National Poetry day, this year the theme is Change, very timely for the UK.
Finally, a little teaser, we’re in the early stages of planning another Wordworks event. November 9th, save the date.
I spent a lovely afternoon at Poltimore house, a few miles outside Exeter. More about the very damaged and decaying house later, for today there was a event about all things yarn related, Ruth you would have loved it. I spotted a pink opportunity with this little fairy.
Isn’t she sweet? And in the pink, just like Becky is here!
There’s something wonderfully glowing about Djemaa el-Fna in Marrakech. As the sun goes down it’s one of the most vibrant places anywhere.
And often quite pink!
Becky’s well camouflaged in her square, but I bet she’s there, and I might just get a telling off if I’m not careful 🙂
