Pink Pipes

For day four of Becky’s  pink September challenge, I’ve decided to take you to Barcelona.

The colour of these pipes changed with the light through the magnificent windows, as did everything inside. I’m sure you’ll know where this photo was taken!

Becky would love to see you if you’d like to join in for a day or everyday of September.

Becky’s September Challenge

It’s another square month and for September Becky has chosen pink, this is what she says.

‘In the Pink’ – means perfect condition or in good health, so that could be human or not!
‘Tickled Pink‘ – means delighted, so I’m thinking happy, fun and of course delighted. That could be you or the subject of your photograph.
Pink – you can of course simply share anything that is coloured pink
There is an extra challenge for those of you up for it – can you manage to combine two of these, or maybe even all three?

So I thought this would be easy because I like pink, but most of the pink photos I have are of flowers. I expect we’ll all share quite a few and that’s what I’m kicking off with.

Much as I love all roses, there’s something very special about single ones and this is a gorgeous colour, what do you think? perhaps you prefer the most sophisticated varieties?

If you didn’t know about Becky’s challenge, take a look and join in here, #InthePink

Hips and Haws

If you’re a certain age, you may have been given Rose Hip Syrup as a child. The bright red round and oval gems were used as a tonic to prevent winter colds because they’re rich in vitamin C. But did you also know they were baked in tarts, added to wine, marmalade and made into  soup? Best of all, they were used as anti varicose vein tea!

Now, the only thing I’ve ever done with haws is mix them with crab apples to make jelly, what about you? Well apparently, since Roman times the cheerful sprays of berries have been picked not just for jellies and jams, but to make wine and as a cure for the headaches that drinking might have caused! Women also gathered them for dyeing their hair, I touched mine up yesterday, I wonder if it’s worth a try.

I’ve always fancied myself as a medicine woman, a curandera, perhaps in a previous life.

Lens Artist Photo Challenge

On Saturday I took my sister and 5 year old nephew to town to check out the street festival that was taking place. There was lots to see but we didn’t have very much time.

My favourite dance troupe Kalash Tribal were there with some new routines.

Then this giant green beastie appeared!

My nephew Obi was amazed!

It wasn’t until later in the day that I saw Tina’s challenge this week is colourful, I could have taken lots more photos.
