Florentine evenings

On a warm summer evening what could be nicer than a stroll around Florence? Whether you like to absorb some culture, like Signore Aleghieri Dante’s statue. in Piazza  Santa Croce,

or, find a delicious and authentic meal in the Mercato Centrale.

then you could catch a bus up  to Piazzale Michelangelo, join the crowds and watch the sun go down.

If you’re really lucky there might be a gelatto festival taking place!
Now, if I was going to the Piazzale again,I’d walk back down the hill instead of waiting ages for a bus, that then got caught in a traffic jam, but hey, we live and learn.

Unless you’re staying in the Oltrarno, the Piazza Della Repubblica may be on your way back to your hotel, and it’s a lively place for a little nightcap.

If you get lost in any back alleys,

never worry,

wherever you are the Duomo will always help you to get your bearings.

Experimental

When Krista posted the theme of ‘Experimental’, for this weeks photo challenge, I knew I would have a play with an image. I got my first copy of Photoshop at lest twelve year ago and back then I would spend ages trying things out. I never became proficient, perhaps if I’d had some lessons, I might have been good at it.

Now of course there are far easier ways to create with free apps for tablets and phones, my camera has lots of instant and fun settings of its own.

So here’s my entry, edited with Nik free software and then cropped with photoshop elements.

Experimenting is fun, perhaps you’ll join in?

THE SILENCE WAS DEAFENING. Ah Julia I like this prompt, I always observe the silence. Those who have followed me for a long time, will know how moved I was when I visited Gallipoli, and may have read my poem.

11 am November 11th

The silence was deafening. But I heard the first whisperings in my head as I stepped out of the car; Anzac was like an echo chamber full of young men.

Tell my wife I love her, kiss my little girl, tell mum my savings are in a box under the floor, dad I’m sorry, Mary forgive me? I didn’t confess Padre.

Yes, I’ll do my best. One at a time, I’ll make a list.

They always laughed when I said I hear voices, keep taking the medication, they said. Now, finally, I’ve found my vocation. Spirit messenger.

Come and join in  with the challenge here,
