Do you know what? Despite the small stones, I’m really fed up with January. Fed up with walking to and fro to work in snow, sleet and sideways rain, only catching twenty minutes of daylight at lunchtime and getting cold all over again.
So, today my stone is looking forward to spring.
In February there will be Daphne, with its fragrance so strong that it reaches me way before I see it.
In March, I’d like to walk on Dartmoor on a clear day and listen to the hum of bees, awake and busy on the bright golden gorse.
March, what could be lovelier than a Dog’s Tooth Violet, the ballerina of the spring garden? I can hardly wait.
These have cheered me up, I hope you like them too!
Cee has gathered some interesting info about the colour orange, go here http://ceeslifephotographyblog.wordpress.com/2012/10/30/cees-fun-foto-challenge-orange/ to learn all and to join in. Meanwhile here are my orange efforts.
Well three to be precise. We are asked to show off our photos of a flower thsi week and also given some tips on capturing them. I’ve included one of Cee’s favourites, a dahlia, but it was taken with my mobile.
I love the shape and texture of Nigella
And a less common but beautiful Toad Lily

http://sandraconner.wordpress.com/2012/10/03/photo-challenge-thursdays-windows-3rd-week/ Sandra has shared memories of windows in American schools, which apparently were the same all over back in the day.
Mine is in Topsham, just down the road, this florist always has a great display.
Will you join in this week? I’m sure you have some great window shots!
It never pays for me to think very much. The more I think about contrasts the more confused I become, but I think I have a good eye for colour somehow. I’ve chosen three shots, hope they work and happy to hear if they don’t.
A crazy plant that I have forgotten the name of.
I’ve posted this image before, it’s one that I created from a black and white photo of a large sculpture, so cheating really!
So for this one I have only cropped out some excess green on the left.
Come and join in, there should be some stunning colour to be seen at http://ceeslifephotographyblog.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/cees-fun-foto-challenge-contrasting-colors/
On of my favourite parts of Rosemoor is Lady Anne’s garden. She was the previous owner of Rosemoor, and in 1988 she donated her 8 acre garden and another 32 acres of land to the RHS. For this post I’m choosing some of Septembers loveliest flowers.
So, have you any idea which might be my favourite plant?
If you would like to know what any of the plants are, I remember most of them and I know a blogger who will know the ones I can’t recall!
I’ve posted about Rosemoor before here when I visited in winter for the sculpture exhibition. Being a Royal Horticultural Society garden, it is absolutely beautiful all year round and in late summer they have a ‘hot garden’ with a real wow factor, that my photos don’t really capture. It will give you an idea though and who knows maybe one day you will visit.
As always click for a bigger view and I’ll be back again soon with some more of the garden.
