My Place in the World

Most of you know that I live in Exeter, and over the years I’ve posted quite a few photos of my city. So when it comes showing my place in the world, I thought I’d focus on east Devon, some of my favourite places, east of the Exe.

East Devon is where I belong, and my heart will always be in Exeter.

Hanuman Trio

Zoomorphic, one of Paula’s five words for Thursday’s challenge

having the form of an animal

of, relating to, or being a deity conceived of in animal form or with animal attributes

Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god, is one of the most revered figures in the religion. Here are three that I found in northern India.

I love Paula’s magical propagating tree. Welcome back Paula.

Three Day Quote Challenge Day 3

Well three days have passed very quickly, how is it that weekends rush by and work days drag?

Clarissa Pinkola Estes is a Jungian psychoanalyst, cantadora and one of my all time favourite writers, and at times the sky and sea make me feel like I’m going to burst.

The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.

The rules of the challenge are simple,
Thank the person who chose you, cheers Jo 🙂

The 3 Day Quote Challenge

Jo’s 3 day quote challenge was the first I came across and I thought oooh I want to do that one. So I begged her to pick me (in fact my bottom lip was out because she didn’t pick me first 🙂

Now I wouldn’t mind some help getting rid of these today,

but, the chances of that are zilch, so Instead I’ll remember the great Audrey Hepburn’s words.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others

What do I like about these words? Well it’s a reminder that I’m pretty resilient, and to be kind to those who are less so.

The rules of the challenge are simple,

Thank the person who chose you, cheers darling

Ancient lines

After seeing this weeks photo challenge, I began thinking about different types of lines, in a sleepless hour the other night. The next day I found the lines of tiles that I posted on Friday, man made, twenty first century city lines.

My mind wandered to ancient lines, and lines that may or may not actually exist, ley lines.

If you believe they do, this is one place where you may be close to one. If you don’t then these stone rows are Neolithic or bronze age.

The lady in the hat with lines is Christine of Dadirri Dreaming, she was very happy to be there in that ancient land. She was a dear friend to many of us, who died in 2014, a few weeks after this photo was taken.

Great Little Birds

Last Saturday afternoon, I was sitting quietly at home when I heard a distinctive two syllable bird song. I slowly stood up and staying well back from the window I watched as a pair of little birds flew back and forth to the feeder on the olive tree. I knew they’d be off if I made any sudden movements, but when they were out of sight I went to get my camera. They must have seen me spying on them because they stayed further away on John Downie’s budding branches, still coming and going.

I watched for half an hour desperately trying to get a decent photo, several feet inside of the window with unsettled light.

They are of course, Great Tits.
Now, Paula’s Thursday challenge this week is zoom in zoom out. So here’s a closer view of these cute, but also quite stroppy little birds.

Paula zoomed in on a beautiful waterfall in Croatia, ‘stopping’the flow to create a white curtain of water.
